Stringybark Festival

The Stringybark Festival was held at the Rowville Community Centre on the 17th and 18th October 2009. Thousands of people enjoyed a wonderful event over the weekend in good weather. The library had an information stand featuring information about the service, our new 'green' membership and our partnership with Patons Macadamias and Etiko. We also had a visit from Andy Griffiths which was fabulous. It's difficult to say how many people heard Andy speak but perhaps about 250.....the kids lined up for an hour after he spoke to have books signed and to meet Andy. He's really great with the kids, spending time with each one, having photos taken and signing several books for each person. The library ran a competition for a decorated 'dunny door'....to keep in the Andy Griffiths theme and to promote the composting toilet on the site.....it was a sustainability festival!!! The doors will be displayed at Rowville Library over the next two weeks with a competition for the best door and the winner decided by a 'people's choice' vote. Pop into the Library to vote for your favourite!
